About the Club

Achilles FC is a travel soccer club founded in 2016 by former professional player Sal Caccavale, designed for athletes aspiring to play at the highest level. It is recognized as an elite club in the DC metropolitan area. The club emphasizes proper soccer instruction while maintaining the enjoyment of the game. They structure their teams into age categories: U8-U12, U13-U14, and U15-U19. Achilles FC coaches are dedicated to teaching and remain with their players over the years to build consistency. The U10-U12 and U17-U19 teams compete in the EDP League or SAM Select League, while the U13-U16 teams participate in the MLS NEXT player development platform. All teams compete in nationally recognized tournaments. Achilles FC also has a Foundation, established in 2018, which is a non-profit providing recreational and competitive soccer programs for disadvantaged youth in the DC Metro area. The Foundation aims to provide equal opportunity for children from underprivileged backgrounds to receive high-level training, countering the "pay to play" model prevalent in many US soccer organizations. They offer scholarships to low-income families to make travel soccer accessible. The Foundation partners with local schools to create cost-effective programs.
