About the Club
Toledo Celtics Soccer Club is a youth soccer organization operating in the Toledo and Northwest Ohio area. Founded in 1987 by Dr. James King and Lee Aliakbar, the club initially focused on older, high school-aged teams before expanding to a full lineup of teams for all age groups. The club serves around 1,000 youths across 70 teams and offers a recreational program, the Toledo Leprechauns, for children ages 3-14, which was established in 1995. A key feature of the club is its player development philosophy, which emphasizes performance and enjoyment over results. Toledo Celtics has a history of developing players for higher levels, having helped hundreds of athletes reach collegiate and professional arenas. The club's teams have achieved significant success, including winning 10 Ohio North State Cup Championships and qualifying for USYS and US Club Soccer National and Regional Championships. They have provided a pathway to professional soccer through a former USL PDL team, the Toledo Slayers. The club's competitive teams have participated in leagues such as the Great Lakes Alliance (NPL).
