About the Club

Minnesota Thunder Academy (MTA) is a premier youth soccer organization based in Richfield, Minnesota. Established in 2008 through the merger of two elite Minnesota youth clubs, MTA operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to player development. The club is distinguished by its highly licensed and experienced coaching staff, many of whom have played at Division 1, national, and professional levels. MTA offers a comprehensive player development pathway, aiming to nurture talent from foundational stages to national competition. The academy has a strong track record of developing players who advance to collegiate, professional, and national team levels, surpassing other clubs in Minnesota. MTA teams compete in top competitive leagues including the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for both Boys and Girls, ECNL Regional League (ECNL RL) Midwest Boys, ECNL RL Twin Cities Boys/Girls, Minnesota National Premier League (NPL), Twin Cities Soccer Leagues (TCSL), and the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). They also provide developmental programs such as the ThunderBolts Program, along with private training sessions and camps.
